EPW - "Markwick Markham Perigal" (actually James Markwick, Robert Markham & Francis Perigal, London, 1725-1780), verge fusee, 48mm, gilt tombac alloy OF original triple cases, the outer covered in shagreen piqué, the second finely engraved, KWKS, replacement George Prior WED for Turkish market, poker & beetle hands, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced & engraved foliate scrolled balance cock, s#42436. Gross weight of assembled watch 55.9 dwt (87.0 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, good balance motion, good escapement function, plates show mint gilding and pristine toning, no oxide on steel and blued components; dial rough around the perimeter, sits high, fractures around chapter; hands mint; mint original shagreen outer shows hardly any wear, perfect shagreen, only 8 missing rivets, complete gilding, good button latch; mint original second case shows hardly any wear, some MFS, two or three scuffs to undermetal, no dents or dings, good button latch; original inner case shows no wear, some MFS, no dents or dings; bow & pendant original, tight, unworn; good domed glass crystal. Beautiful condition, the dial change unfortunate.
